Porting the
Tuned Port Injection system improves airflow measurably, which in turn
boosts horsepower. From the intake porting package, we gained 2 mph in the
quarter mile (100 to 102 mph). We gained another 2 mph with the
52mm throttlebody (102 to 104 mph). Of course, your results may vary,
but you will feel an increase in the top end. If you already have headers
and a catback exhaust, the results will be very noticeable. The results
are from a TPI 350 with SLP Tri-Y headers & catback, as well as the free
ram air mod. If you don't,
you'll feel a nice jump in power when you do install a free flowing exhaust.
Think of your engine as a system. Everything has to be working together
to make horsepower. With modified exhaust, your intake is limiting the
TPI engine. That's why I saw such a large increase in power. I've also
installed the ported intake on a car without headers, and he noticed more
power in the top end, so it does work. Please email
